- what paperwork do you need to file unemployment in collierville tn
Filing a new unemployment insurance benefits claim can be more complicated and time consuming than you expect. This is especially the case if the Tennessee Unemployment Insurance Agency, also known as the Department of Labor and Workforce, has queries over your application. For instance, if your employer states you left your job of your own accord, you may not qualify for UI benefits. This article addresses some of the most frequently asked questions by unemployed workers and answers them using the Tennessee’s Department of L&N resources.
The TN L&W system says my account has been suspended. What does that actually mean?
If the system says your account has been suspended, this means your personal identification number, or PIN, is locked. To reopen your account you will need to visit your local claim center or call using the following numbers: 615.253.0800 or 1.877.813.0950.
I have a part-time job. Can I still receive unemployment benefits?
You probably can. In fact, the Tennessee L&W department encourages unemployed workers to find whatever work they can, even part-time. You can earn up to 25 percent of your weekly benefit amount without your benefits being deducted in any way. However, if you earn more than 25 percent of your weekly benefit amount, your earnings (over and above the 25 percent of your weekly benefit amount) will be deducted from your benefits. If you earn the same or more than your weekly benefit amount the week is disqualified from unemployment payments. The maximum weekly benefit amount in Tennessee is $275.
I made a mistake in my application. What can I do to fix it?
You will need to get another form, fill it correctly and ask a TN L&W worker to change that response and fax it to the following fax number. 615.253.0808.
I missed my “day” to file for weekly benefits. What should I do?
If you miss your appointment date for your weekly benefits claim, maybe because the line was busy or you simply forgot, you can call Tuesdays to Fridays from 7 AM to 12:00 PM.
I did not receive my first weekly benefit check. What is going on here?
Your first unemployment benefit week is called a waiting week. This is because you do not receive this payment until you have made four consecutive claims. This means you will not receive a payment until the second week and will receive two checks the fourth week you claim.
