Want help with your TN UI application? Attend a mass claims session.
The Tennessee telephone filing system is overloaded. In an effort to deal with this overload and fast track the application of eligible workers the TN Labor and Workforce Department has organized mass claim sessions for unemployed workers to file for unemployment.
If you have recently become unemployed and you meet the program’s requirements you may be able to speed up your application as well as simplify the application process.
These mass sessions are designed to help applicants fill in their forms and screen applicants who have clear-cut grounds for unemployment benefits. If you meet the requirements for this special program your application could be approved onsite, which could speed up your payments by up to a week.
Requirements:
- You must have been laid off from work due to lack of work or reduction in force. Sometimes employers will term this as “furloughed”.
- Separation form stating lack of work as reason for separation. If you are about to be laid off and plan to apply for UI, ask your employer to provide you with a separation form that clearly indicates the reason for the separation. Click here for a fillable version of the form.
- You must have worked exclusively in Tennessee for the last 18 months. These mass sessions are not for interstate claims.
- Two forms of official IDs, such as your driving license or a birth certificate.
- Your SSN
- Your address and telephone number.
- The name and contact details of your last employer. If you have worked for other employers in the last 18 months bring their names and contact details to the meeting.
