The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has partnered with the U.S Department of Agriculture to provide Tennessee unemployed workers with the Food Stamp Program. This program is designed to help Tennessee unemployed workers without dependents receive the training they need to find a job, keep it, survive and prosper as productive members of society.
The program assesses every individual on its own merits and designs a plan based on his or her personal circumstances, strengths and weaknesses to reach both short and long-term self-sufficiency and independence goals. The program provides eligible participants with eight main opportunities or activities that are expected to create a bridge for the participant to move from being a dependent to reaching his or her full potential.
